Tis' the time of the year with mistletoes and hollies, christmas pine trees, log cakes, loaves of turkey ham with dashes of cranberry paste, marinated herbs turkeys, and a good less-than-a-week countdown to the new year.
The place oozes a rustic charm, embedded in the forresty grounds, it channels you to somewhere beyond, anywhere but the same country you have been living for 22 years. The air is fresh and clean, refreshing. It is the glorious hang-out, you sip red wine and stare back at the beauty of mother nature. It is the cheapest way to live the Banyan Tree experience without paying the cost of it.
As night falls, the place is glowing in a wash of warm lights. Surrounding you, you hear people's playful banter, while you immerse yourself in your group conversation. Then the food arrives, the most velvety homemade mushroom soup, with a dash of olive oil to top it off; the nicest and succulent slices of roast turkey breast, a side of cinnamon dressing, a scoop of the most delish pumpkin paste and a healthy serving of mushrooms. You slowly savour it, the goodness of all things christmas and food. You hold the wine glass and slowly twirl it, watching the its red contents swirling on its own vortex. Then you raise the glass and sniff it, take a sip of it, culminating in the whole wine experience.

Then comes the mini christmas log cake, the artful decor on the plate. Chocolate and mango sauces with strawberries and blueberries, and the blackforest log cake with a good amount of cream and chocolate bits on the outside. Your stomach is filled, you lay back and enjoy the conversation, in nature's lure. Then comes the beer battered onion rings and the soft squid of the deep fried calamari, with a side of tartar sauce dipping.

You can never really resist the charm of Red Dot @ Dempsey. The steps leading to and fro it are lighted, making it seem majestic, like a high class villa.

But wait, the best is yet to come. The climb up Dempsey hill is calm, never too tedious. You take in it hill's charm, notice the various restaurants and retailers on the plot of land. You revel in how it doesn't feel like Singapore, almost Bali-like, American maybe. Then you've reached your destination, the ranch home @ Dempsey hill, probably or actually the biggest Ben & Jerry's outlet here.
But what is most alluring is the ambience, swings for chairs on the outside, the many tables and couches on the inside, the crowd eating and chattering, warm lighting, best of all, the music! The latest hits are playing back to back, the beats reverberating. Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, the Black Eyed Peas, Ke$ha. Then the live band goes on, probably the best, like a Boyce Avenue band. The duo blows you away, their voices so fine, complemented with the best of acoustic guitars. You can almost feel the music, creeping up, taking over your soul. You want to sing you heart out in the midst of the crowd, strut a guitar, anything but being motionless in this mind-blowing experience. The music keeps playing, hits from Bruno Mars, The Script, Colbie Caillat, Lady Antebellum..
Then it's time to leave; all good things come to an end; promises to revisit.

Good tidings everyone! Be jolly this christmas and receive lotsa presents! :)
